The world is dying. With four of the five Ancient Trees perished, the world has grown darker and desolate. Our invaders defeated the guardian dragons and enslaved the wardens of our world. Now, Sha’vath, the remaining Ancient Tree is dwindling in her strength. Life force is ebbing away from the world, while the Arcane Wind feeds off her energy. Fae creatures are turning dark and feral as their bond with their home world is failing—a connection established by the Ancient Trees. Unbeknownst to most on Ylliora, Sha’vath is dying and with her, the world is dying, but some can hear her plea.
The Ylliora novels give the reader entry into a rich high fantasy world, full of magic, gods that share the same air as their followers, but also a world where everything comes at a price. Some tales will follow the heroes that are aware of the deeper issue with the world, while others are too occupied with their survival. Find your favorite character within the world and follow their path or immerse yourself in the world and uncover all its secrets.
Ylliora is a vast and expensive fantasy world with different species, cultures, and people. Many events in history helped shape the world as it is today. While positive for the Human civilizations, as the victors of the One-Hundred-Year war, most of the Elder-folk lie in wait for the opportunity to reclaim what was once theirs. Experience the world of Ylliora through different perspectives or stick to a favorite character as you read through the Tales of Ylliora novels.
Sometimes you can’t save those you love without violence, committing a crime, or endangering the lives of others. Most of the characters in Ylliora novels operate between black and white, and good and evil. No one is absolved of sin, nor is anyone pure evil. A noble lord might misinterpret another’s cultural traditions as savage and offensive and deem its grounds for hostile action. Meanwhile, a villain might commit heinous crimes, but they originate from a place of love before he lost his way. In the Ylliora novels, it’s all about perspective and from which side you’re looking in.
Ylliora novels might take place in a high fantasy setting, yet, gritty realism grounds the stories. Nothing is free in Ylliora, everything comes at a price. May it be a magi blessed with the connection to the Arcane Wind, but every time she carelessly practices magic, it will tap into her life force, bringing her closer to death. A friendship with another species could come at the cost of being exiled by your people. Fighting for the natural balance of things could get you in trouble with the deities ruling over the world. There are consequences to our heroes’ actions. However, the dark moments make the light shine brighter.
There is one constant in the Ylliora novels and that is the world. This doesn’t mean that characters won’t return to other novels, as some of them do. May it be as the main character or in a smaller capacity. The entire world is connected, and depending on the timeline, some characters might meet, become friends or enemies, and experience adventures together.
All Tales of Ylliora novels are stand-alone novels that can be read in any order. If a book belongs to an ordered series, the series title and book number will be on the cover and book description.
Thousand of years after the One-Hundred-Year war, Humans remain victorious over the Elder-folk. Many only remember snippets of their history. Understand the sacrifices given by both deity and Man for their place within this world. However, the elder races, those that walked the earth of Ylliora before us, remember. Some, like the Dwarves, might have moved on and formed alliances with our people, while others still fight with their dying breath to heal the world of our past wrongs. I can hear the call of the last Ancient Tree—the life force of this world. I doubt Irthys even knows about it, as it was never foretold. The world is dying and most of us don’t even know.

With the guardian dragons defeated and the warden giants enslaved by the human pantheon, Humans rule over Ylliora. Although they may be one of the youngest species among us, they have spread like locust across the world during the second age. Now, several thousand years later, with the God-king Kaedarr calling down a meteor storm on one of his insolent civilizations, we have entered the third age—the age of Kaedarr’s Reckoning. An age where the Human deities grow bold and walk the earth among us. While some relationships with Human civilizations are amicable, the undercurrent still carries the tension between the Elder-folk and the Humans. For they have invaded our world, they destroyed and harnessed the life force of the Ancient Trees to subjugate the elder species for millennia. With only the Ancient Tree Sha’vath left standing, the world is dying. We must protect her, at all costs.
